The Punjabi film Mangti (1942) was directed by Roop K. Shorey (ass. Majnu).
Mangti (1942) was the first ever Lahore-made super hit golden jubilee musical Punjabi film, which ran for 60 weeks on its main cinema Sanober (Parbhat). It was a new business record for any film in Lahore.
The total expenditures of this film were 35.000 Rupees. Film producer established "Shorey film studio" (Shah-Noor film studio) from the earnings of this film.
