The film story
Zeenat (1945) was a Muslim social film. Noor Jahan plays the title role, marries Salim Raza, but the groom falls and is injured when his horse backfires during the wedding procession and dies the next day.
A few months later, when Zeenat (Noor Jahan) is married, no one in the family, including the elders of the family, namely the brother-in-law and sister-in-law (Shahnawaz and Babu), believes in her chastity. Only one brother-in-law (Yaqoob) witnesses that the bride went to the groom's room on the honeymoon and left in the morning, but due to his reckless nature, outlandish poetry and habit of making up phrases, no one takes him seriously.
After becoming homeless, the oppressed widow gives birth to a baby girl and leaves her as an orphan on her father's grave. By chance, the girl's uncle, Yaqoob, takes the girl and hands her over to a dear childless couple (Majeed and Jalobai) who raise her. Noorjehan (Zeenat) finds out and she becomes her own daughter's "nanny" in the same house.
The girl (Naseem Junior) grows up and on the day of her marriage to (Karan Diwan) the father is asked, then the contract is revealed that she is the daughter of Zeenat (Noorjehan) on which the procession starts to go back but by chance a diary written by the deceased groom (Saleem Raza) is found in which their honeymoon is mentioned which becomes proof of Zeenat's innocence but she leaves this world after making her daughter her bride.
