Shamshad Begum

Shamshad Begum was discovered by the legendary music director Master Ghulam Haidar. She began her singing career on Radio Lahore in the mid 1930s. She was introduced in Punjabi film Yamla Jatt in 1940 and was a busy playback singer. She sang many Hindi/Urdu songs but her Punjabi film songs were street songs in both Indian and Pakistani Punjab.

Shamshad Begum was born in 1919 at Lahore and died on April 23, 2013 at Mumbai.
